I grew up in Washington, and I started dabbling in the video world when I was in 8th grade. I used the old Avid Cinema, and then moved to apple's iMovie, quickly mastering the extent of that program. (I once made a video out of the letter "O" and nobody to date has figured out how I did it only using iMovie...) I found myself in a class on video production, and broadcasting, which I soon became the Chief Engineer, Station manager, and Director of Remote Operations (DRO). Being the DRO, I decided to build a broadcast truck, and I was placed on a board of engineers in Seattle with all the Chief Engineers of the main network affiliates (KIRO, KING, KOMO, KCTS, etc) They helped me with the specs, and soon enough it was finished. At this point, I am fresh out of High School.
While doing the technical stuff in the broadcast field, I was also making movies, which I prefer. A friend of mine, Justin Petry, was one of the few people who actually had a similar drive and motivation to create a film. So, with Petry, I wrote a film called “The letter” which, in short is about a guy trying to save a kid, and along the way finds himself avoiding police, stealing medical supplies, and speeding down the interstate. Unfortunately, we were never able to entirely finish the story, so we slapped a “to be continued” in the most convenient place we could find…
I am always interested in new story ideas, because you can have all the new technical crap, and the coolest cameras, but all that means jack-shit if you have a bad story, or you simply told a story badly. I love making music videos, and shorts on the side, but I always have trouble finding time (I work almost full time at JCrew, and am taking a full load at Everett Community College to transfer to the University of Washington to get a Masters of business Administration – M.B.A.) Anyway, that’s me.
