Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, Saman became interested in filmmaking in his early teenage years and devoted the majority of his time to learning about it ever since. He moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to study filmmaking and started his education at Santa Monica College by majoring in Film Studies. In 2010, he graduated from Columbia College Hollywood with a BFA in Cinema with an emphasis in Cinematography. He has been working as a director of photography for more than nine years and has shot numerous shorts, music videos, commercials, and a feature documentary. Saman has also written and directed several short films. His first short, “Allow the Wind,” which he shot in Iran, later won the Best Directing, Scriptwriting, and Cinematography from SMC's Student Filmmakers Association. His second short, “The Old Car,” was the closing film at Columbia College Hollywood’s Film Festival for the Entertainment Industry in 2010. He is currently working on completing the post production on his fourth narrative short, "$lowdown," about the recent recession in the United States. Saman is also a photographer and Jazz pianist.
