How To : Projects : Video
Summary
There are several ways to get video on Seven Oranges. The first is to convert the video into iPod® video format format as described below then upload it. The other is to convert it into any video format you can, upload it and let us convert it to iPod® video format.
How To...
Convert to iPod® Video Format
Currently there is only one way we are officialy supporting conversion into the format we want and that is with Quicktime Pro. We are not saying that it is not possible with other applications, but we have found to create mp4 compatible video that will work both on the ipod and stream on the web, Quicktime is the best solution. If you know of another way feel free to use it, keep in mind that the file must be able to have a .m4v file extention and still work.

That being said, here are some basic parameters: The video must be 320x240 and be less than 150MB. To the right and bottom are screens that show export settings.

The window to the right is opened by clicking on 'Video Options...'.

Data Rate and Audio options are your choice just be sure that the file is less than 150MB. smaller size is better for us as well as the viewers of your movie.

Convert with another Application
If purchasing quicktime pro is not an option there are a lot of free video converters out there that can trim down your movie to something that can easily be uploaded. We will have no problem doing the conversion for you, just be aware that you will have to wait at least a day to watch it on Seven Oranges.

One application has shown some promise, videora, and its free.

Get Help
We understand that getting your video up on 7O may be one of the most difficult things to do on the page, however it is also the most beneficial and rewarding. If you can't do things right on your first try, send us an e-mail so we can help you get the ball rolling.
Give your upload the best chance for success
Uploading files through HTTP is not as wonderful as downloading. It is typically slower and cannot be resumed. To avoid hickups, try and avoid doing anything online while uploading, and also be patient. If it doesn't work one time for no apparent reason, this does not mean that it will not work the next. We are sorry that this is the case, we wish we could all give you FTP accounts, but alas, we can't.
